PHR - What does it mean?

To become certified, an applicant must pass a comprehensive examination and demonstrate a strong background of professional human resource experience. In addition to the stringent testing and application process, PHR's are required to complete continuing professional education, reported every three years, to maintain their status.

The Institute's purpose is to promote the establishment of professional standards and to recognize professionals who meet those standards.
What are the differences between other professionals?
Professional PHR/SPHR are deemed professionally competent in their body of knowledge, and must keep that body of knowledge current to industry standards by participating in classes, developing new programs in thier work enviromenmt, or teaching HR subjects. This on-going committment of additional education is required on top of job requirements.
